Our loving father Humberto Trevino, Sr., 98 was called by the Lord to his resting place in heaven on December 15, 2019 to join our mother. His devotion and love for her never wavered as he adored her and missed her terribly. Born December 27, 1920 he is preceded in death by his parents Jose Maria and Guadalupe T. Trevino; his loving wife Deroza; (our mother), Diana Maria Trevino his infant daughter who died shortly after her birth (our sister), Pedro Trevino (brother) and his spouse Guadalupe Trevino and Andrea T. Martinez (sister) and her spouse Francisco Martinez.
He is survived by his sons Humberto Trevino Jr. and Jesus David Trevino; his loving daughter Sara Alicia Coffman (Floyd K.); grandchildren; Elizabeth Trevino Garcia (Rocky), Sixto D. Lopez (Roberta), Melissa M. Morales (Jose Rogelio), Tito Trevino (Leah), great grandchildren; Alyssa and Brandon Morales, Brianna, Nicolas and Amanda Lopez, Grant and Ella Garcia and Teddy, Elliott and Julie Wash, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
It is also fitting that we acknowledge and gratefully thank Dr. Gilberto Garza-Lozano, Dr. Carlos Cigarroa, Dr. Luis Benavides, Nurses on Wheels their staffs, nurses and aides for the excellent care and attention to detail they exemplified by making our father’s quality of life more comfortable especially in his late life. In particular we cannot say enough about his care takers Martina Munoz and Emma Martinez who have been with us for many years and have shown nothing less than the very best in their responsibilities, their dedication and the love they fostered for our father and mother cannot be measured by any standard. While this may be the end of their duties it does not signal the end of our friendship and will always welcome their presence into our home and table. I would be remiss not to mention our father’s spiritual inspiration Father Hector Flores who visited him every Wednesday and inspired all of us to persevere in the face of adversity, God Bless all of you!
Our father was a very proud man and had a work ethic second to none. On his way home from the war (WW2) he struck up a conversation with the driver of the bus he was riding (Greyhound), the driver asked what his plans were now that the war was over and his reply was “to get a job and settle down”. The driver told him they were hiring at the Greyhound depot and pretty much the rest is history. He worked for Greyhound for over 40 years and retired as station manager, a job that he loved dearly. His favorite pastime was playing golf with his friends who would all get together at least once a week and he would always dress to the tee. He was the only one left out of a team of 5 and eventually did not play anymore. He was a great provider and at times would sacrifice his wants in order that his wife and children would not go without. You will be missed Dad, but we promise you this, you will never be forgotten.
