Hilda Texas

Hilda Mendez Sosa, 72, of Laredo, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven and granted eternal rest on November 24, 2016. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 51 years, Daniel "Chino", and adored her children and granddaughters.

Hilda was born in Laredo, Texas to Gilberto and Esperanza Mendez on August 17, 1944. She graduated from Martin High School in 1962 and married Daniel R. Sosa in 1965. Hilda worked as a case manager for Texas Dept. of Human Services for 25 years. Her pleasures included attending church, singing in the choir, being an active committee member of the Class of '62, cooking/baking, traveling, and camping at Garner State Park.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gilberto and Esperanza Mendez and her brother David Mendez. Her In-laws, L. Eloy Sosa Sr., Alicia G. Sosa; brother in law, Jorge Sosa; nephews, Joe Herrera, Daniel Bazan Jr., and Eloy Sosa III.

Hilda will be deeply missed by her husband Daniel, her children, Danny (Alicia) Sosa, Clare (Sam) Flores, and Missy, 7 granddaughters, Cristy (Roger) Solis, Becca, Beth, Danissa, Annie, Gabby, Selikka, and her brothers and sisters, Gilberto (Dora) Mendez Jr., Orphalinda (Danny) Bazan, Samuel Mendez, and Elizabeth (Roberto) Tijerina.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 27th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Funeral Home North; 1410 Jacaman Rd.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, November 28th, at Joe Jackson Funeral Home, with the Reverend Dorso Maciel of Primera Iglesia Bautista officiating.

Interment will then follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Sosa Jr., Sam Flores, Roger Solis, Humberto Herrera, Becca Flores and Beth Sosa.
