HEBERTO RENDON, JR.
AUGUST 19, 1958 – JUNE 16, 2017

Heberto Rendon, Jr., 58, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 16, 2017 at a local hospital, having been surrounded by his loving family by his side.

Heberto “Beto” Rendon, Jr. was born in Laredo, Texas on August 19, 1958 to Heberto and Elda Rendon. As a young child, Beto had the opportunity to travel throughout Central Texas with his family while his father worked for HB Zachary. He studied in Glen Rose and Copeville, Texas then, in 1976, Beto graduated from Martin High School in Laredo. He then went on to receive a certification in welding from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1978 and nearly 20 years later in 1997, he received a degree in teaching from Texas A&M International University. On December 31, 1987 he met his soulmate, Gloria Rendon, at a New Year’s Eve party. They would later marry in 1991 and on April 21, 1998 and June 6, 2001, respectively, Beto and Gloria welcomed their two children Victor and Alyana, who were by far the most significant part of Beto’s life.

If you ask his beloved family and friends who Beto was, they will tell you that it is difficult to put it into a few words. Beto was a son, father, brother, uncle, teacher and friend; he was a force to be reckoned with, a man of integrity. Beto was a great man that cared deeply about the people in his life; his Mother & Father, wife, children, siblings, and his extended family of nieces, nephews, friends and students. Beto was a gentle giant who could always be counted on for his words of wisdom and he would not mince words. Those who knew him well knew that he was an accomplished man whose inspiration knew no boundaries; he reached the unreachable, he was a man of his word, and he achieved everything he set out to do. Beto was not an individual who could sit still; working on projects big and small were his specialty and he would see them all through regardless of any obstacles he would encounter.

His love for his family ran deep. He took great pride in spoiling his children and he would go to the ends of the earth for them – even though traveling wasn’t one of his favorite things to do. Bringing everyone together to reminisce while he grilled was something he took abundant pride in. Good music, capturing the perfect sunset, vintage pawn-shop finds, backyard barbecues, sparkling green eyes and ice-cold Miller Lites perfectly portray the man Beto was. He was a man of beautiful contradictions as he could simultaneously weld massive structures and create impassioned poetry. He was a creator, a caregiver, a lover of the outdoors. He was the type of person that immersed himself in intricate literature and enhancing backyards. Beto was a man of great faith that knew the importance of maintaining a relationship with God; he may not have showcased his faith but it was deeply rooted in his beliefs. Beto was greatly respected in his life and his legacy will exist forever because legends never die.

Heberto was preceded in death by his mother, Elda G. Rendon and parents-in-law, Carlos S. and Elia V. Sandoval.
