July 20, 1947- September 02, 2022

Harold F. Ellington passed away on September 2, 2022, at the age of 75.  After several months of declining health, he died peacefully with his beloved wife and their children by his side.

He was born in Highpoint, North Carolina into a military family who traveled the world.  He later served his country in the Army at the age of 18 and fought honorably in Vietnam.  After the war he moved to Laredo, Texas, met the love of his life of 52 years Maria, and were married shortly after.  He worked many years as an advertising salesman with Guerra Communications until his retirement.  He was an avid golfer and founding member of sundowners.  He was an honest man who loved his family and especially his only granddaughter Sofia.  He will forever live on in our memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold F. and Grace Hyde Ellington, brother, Marvin E. Ellington, and sister Evelyn Lange.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Maria G. Ellington, son, Harold F. Ellington, Jr., daughters, Llana I. Ponce, and Valeria Martinez, granddaughter, Sofia Ponce, sisters, Janet Almaraz, and Brenda D. Ellington, and numerous relatives from the Martinez family.

The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday evening, September 7, 2022 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Private cremation will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider making a donation to the American Legion Post 59, Laredo, Texas.
