GUADALUPE "LUPITA" MALDONADO

June 11, 1931 - February 12, 2016

Mrs. Guadalupe "Lupita" Maldonado, 84, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 12, 2016.

Lupita, as she was known to all, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She also dedicated herself to helping many in need as a career-long nurse of over 25 years with Mercy Hospital.

She was a devout Catholic and member of several organizations such as; Laredo Medical Center Auxiliary, Eucharistic Minister at Christ the King, Sociedad de Cristo Rey, San Francisco Javier Cursillo Movement, and Sabatinas. She was also a coordinator for the M.T.A. Shrine of Schoenstatt, and for Our Lady of Fatima Home Unit, all of which she serviced proudly.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jose R. (Bob) Maldonado, Sr.; her parents, Pedro and Santos P. Torres; parents-in-law, Jose O. and Concepcion R. Maldonado; brothers, Juan Torres, Victor Torres, Pedro Torres, Javier Maldonado; and sister Maria de La Luz Maldonado.

She is survived by her sons, Ricardo S. Maldonado of Austin, TX, Jose Roberto (Thelma L.) Maldonado, Jr. of Laredo, TX; granddaughter, Gabriela L. Maldonado; grandson, Jose Roberto Maldonado, III; nephew, Francisco J. Maldonado, Jr.; sisters, Ofelia (Santos) Rodriguez, Carmen (Jose) Duarte, and Josefina Maldonado; and her brother, Luis (Gloria) Torres. She is also survived by her other nephews, cousins, loving relatives and friends.

Her family sends a special thanks to close family friends, Tina Sanchez, Maria Carrizales, Carmen Alvarez, Mr. and Mrs. Homero Prado and family, Laredo Downtown Pharmacy, and the Izaguirre family.

Another special thanks to Rita Ybarra, Yolanda Hernandez, and Nurses on Wheels for their utmost care and attention.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, February 16, 2016 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Road; where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016 departing Joe Jackson North at 9:30 a.m. to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Pallbearers will be: Ricardo Maldonado, Jose R. Maldonado, Jr., Jose R. Maldonado, III, Santos Rodriguez, Samuel Amaya, Pablo Gonzalez, Pablo Gonzalez, Jr., Jose Duarte, and Roque Mendoza.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
