Griselda Casso

Griselda "?eca" Casso, 94, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 and joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a descendant of the founding father of Laredo, Don Tomas Sanchez. Her life's dedication was to her family. Her faith in God led her to volunteer as a Eucharistic Minister and was a life-long parishioner of Christ The King Catholic Church. Griselda had a passion for the arts, enjoyed canvas oil painting, some of which adorned her home. She also was a classical music enthusiast, always listening to music around her home. She lived happily singing throughout the day. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso, Sr.; her parents, Gonzalo P. Farias and Julia Garca Naranjo; and by her siblings, Angelina (Manuel) Gonzalez, Gonzalo (Nora) Farias, Graciela (Jesus) Vela Cuellar, Cesar (Berta) Farias, Hector (Concha) Farias, Olga (Johnny) Guerrero, Julia Hortencia Farias and Daniel Farias.

She is survived by her beloved children, Alfonso (Libbie) Casso, Griselda (Efran) Barbosa, Laura Casso and Luis (Thelma) Casso; grandchildren, Julia Casso, Liz (Bill) Hersch, Alfonso (Valeria) Casso, III, Analise Barbosa, Anessa Barbosa, Dr. Louis S. Casso-Gomez, Stefan Casso and Sophia Casso; great-grandchildren, Aiden Muller, Ava Muller and Xander Edrington; and sister-in-law, Gloria Farias. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends.
