GLORIA RODRIGUEZ
April 3, 1929 – September 12, 2021
Gloria Rosenbaum Rodriguez passed on September 12, 2021 at the age of 92. Gloria and her beloved husband were married for 70 years and lived in Laredo, Texas all of their lives. She was the daughter of Olga Castillon Rosenbaum and Roberto Rosenbaum. Gloria was the paternal granddaughter of Maria Amparo Morton Rosenbaum and Isidore Rosenbaum as well as the maternal granddaughter of Teresa Garza Flores Castillon and Lic. Eugenio F. Castillon of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. Her great grandfather was George W. Morton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who was an early settler in Laredo and Sabinas, Mexico. Her great grandmother was Maria Guadalupe Ancira Morton of Sabinas, Hidalgo N.L., Mexico. These facts were contributed by Gloria’s personal typed message found after her passing and is speaking to us in her own words. In 1947 she was one of the Rio Grande Belles presented during the George Washington Birthday Celebration. She attended Martin High School (MHS) and graduated in 1948. While at MHS she was a member of the Courtesy Service Club, Pan American Student Forum and the Library Service Club. Gloria was also a Princess at the Jr.-Sr. Prom, and was a member of The Laredo Art Association. Between 1948 and 1980, she acquired employment at the Webb County Health Unit, at the City of Laredo with the Birth and Death Certificate Health Department, KPAB Radio Station located at the top of the Hamilton Hotel, M.J. Rodriguez Company and the medical office of Dr. S.K. Lawson. Gloria was nurturing, affectionate and unconditionally loved her family. She was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar M. Rodriguez, parents Olga Castillon Rosenbaum and Roberto Rosenbaum, sisters Olga Meyer (Samuel), Sophie Snyder (John), and Sylvia Lawson (Shirley Keith “S.K.”).
Left to cherish her memory are her children Oscar E. Rodriguez (Diana), Martha Humphries (James), Roberta Lopez (Ruben), grandchildren Cristina Baumgardner (Andrew), Andrea Lee (Brian), Oscar O. Pena (Doreen), Karl Pena, Nicolas Lopez, Karina Lopez, great-grandchildren Natalie Baumgardner, Lauren Baumgardner Kathryn Baumgardner, Jacob Lee, Noah Lee, Nicolas Pena, Ever Pena, Christo Pena and David Pena.
The family will be receiving condolences on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 8 to 9 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.
Funeral Services will follow departing at 8:45 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Andrew Baumgardner, Brian Lee, Alex Meyer, Nicolas Lopez, Oscar O. Pena and Karl Pena.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: Dr. J.R. Garcia, Doctor’s Hospital, and Serenity Home Health Care Services. As well as her loving caregivers Lupita Gaytan, and Olga Sarabia.
