George David Talamas passed away at his home on Sunday, August 11th, 2013.
George was born on January 17, 1921, the second of six sons, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Antoine & Yvonne Talamas.-George and his brothers were educated at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia and spent their summers in New York City.
He had an acumen for business as he began working at a young age in the Talamas family retail business and auto parts store in Haiti.-While on furlough during the war, he met Josephine Jacaman. They lived in Haiti before returning to Josephine's home town of Laredo with their children. There he opened up the Marglo Shop, a ladies and men's clothing store.-He had the Marglo for nearly 40 years. And he was a proud, founding member of downtown Laredo's "Snake Pit".
George's life was the stuff of legend.-He was a master story teller with acute attention to detail and he loved a good tease.
George cherished family above all else.-He was an exceptional man who was loyal, loving, generous and big hearted.-He will be deeply missed and forever treasured by his family.
George is survived by his wife, Josephine Jacaman Talamas; their children: Tony Talamas (Cris); Margie Foley (Ken); George Talamas (Adriana); Gloria Talamas (Philip Domenico); Jeanne Waldburger(Ulrich); Patrick Talamas (Karen); twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Texas Children's Hospital or The Bethany House.
