George Rigal Sr.

Mr. George Rigal, Sr., 88, was called by our Lord into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Laredo, Texas, on November 10, 1929, Mr. Rigal lived a life of fulfilment and of service. He proudly served our country in the Korean War and then served our community as a dedicated and respected educator. Teaching from elementary level to secondary and post-secondary education within Laredo Independent School District and Laredo Community College, his career spanned 44 years. He believed in having a strong work ethic and was always industrious, working in several other occupations, as well. Through his example, he taught his family to embrace each day and to rise to meet life with faith, joy, laughter, humility, forbearance, fortitude, integrity, and the love for family and home. His was a life actualized that will continue to inspire and serve as an example for all of us. He leaves us now to serve our Lord in Heaven.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Blanca Aurora Rigal, parents; Jose and Luz Rigal and his siblings; Ernesto, Hector and Lidia Rigal.

Mr. George Rigal is survived by his six sons, George (Esther) Rigal, Jr., Roger (Kim) Rigal, John H. (Irma) Rigal, Daniel (Rebecca) Rigal, Rene X. Rigal and Michael James (Gabriela Vanessa) Rigal, as well as by twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral cortege will depart on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 9:40 a.m. to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
