GEORGE R. MARTINEZ February 14, 1956 - January 12, 2015 George R. Martinez, 58, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 12, 2015. Mr. Martinez was a member of the US Army National Guard for over 20 years, as well as an active service member of the US Army and US Air Force. He was a highly decorated veteran with many achievements and decorations that he was always proud off. He now rests peacefully in the presence of all the angels and saints in the glory of God the father. We will miss him dearly but hold him in our hearts forever. He now joins his daughter in Heaven: Yvonne Martinez who predeceased him. Left behind to cherish his memory is his beloved and adored spouse: Maria Alicia Martinez; son: Richard (Rosa Elia) Martinez; grandchildren: Albert Guardiola, Alicvette Guardiola, Ricardo Mateo Martinez; sisters: Yvonne Swanson and Yvette Brennan. He is further survived by numerous beloved cousins, other relatives and many friends. The family will receive condolences the evening of Wednesday the 14th of January 2015 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez from 5 to 10 in the evening with a Rosary being recited at 7. Procession will depart the chapel the following morning of Thursday the 15th of January 2015 at 10:45 in the morning for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church at 11. Rite of Committal and Interment with Military Honors will follow the mass at the Laredo City CemeteryVeteran's Section. Honors will be presented by the Fort Sam Houston Flag Detail and local American Legion Post 59.
