GENEVRA "POOKIE" SALDIVAR November 22, 1974 - July 10, 2015 Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Genevra "Pookie" Saldivar, 40, was called by the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2015. Genny was born in Los Alamitos, California on November 22, 1974 and spent her life in Laredo, Texas. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend to all who knew and loved her. Genny loved sunflowers, music, and cats, especially her beloved Gizmo. We will always remember her contagious laughter, her delicious Kahlua flan, and her famous meatball soup (Her mom's recipe). Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and nieces and nephews watching Disney movies, shopping, and telling silly jokes. Genny is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Victoria "Toya" Saenz and by her paternal grandparents, Sixto and Amalia Zamora. She is survived by her maternal grandfather, Cuauhtemoc "Temo" Saenz; her mother, Teresa Saenz Kelley; step-father, Kevin Kelley; father, Jose Ernesto Zamora; spouse, Daniel Saldivar; and children, Victoria "Torrie", Dylan, and Ryan Saldivar. She is also survived by her siblings, Jessica (Oscar) Solis, Kristin and Kandice Kelley, and Sinai and Yolanda Zamora; aunts, Mandy Benavides and Celia Crowder; great-aunts, Leonor "Nonie" (John) Daves and Dora (Leon) Best; and her Godmother, Sara Lee Sweatt. Further surviving her are numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friend, Ricky Duran. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Doctors and Methodist Hospitals, as well as the numerous doctors who cared for her: Doctors Allen, Haber, Aldape, Abbate, and Pruitt. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd. where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday morning, July 16, 2015 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Pallbearers will be: Dylan Saldivar, Sergio Garcia, Hector Zamora, Kevin Kelley, Oscar Solis, Jr., Adan Benavides, Sean Geissler, and Ricardo Duran. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Daniel C. Saenz, Victor Saenz, Ryan Saldivar, Oscar Solis, III and Francisco Lopez. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
