Genaro Santos, 86, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Genaro was born on September 19, 1927 in Hacienda Santa Fe, Nuevo Len, México. He married his wife of 64 years, Amparo Santos, in June 1949. Genaro was full of joy and laughter, and his sense of humor will always be remembered by his loved ones. He was a hard worker and was always up and about working on the next project. He instilled a sense of hard work on all his children through his example. Until recently, Genaro loved spending time at a small ranch tending to his animals and growing his own fruits and vegetables. He enjoyed taking his many grandchildren out to the ranch where they enjoyed countless hours and made many memories together. Genaro will best be remembered for his kind spirit, his clever and interesting conversations, and for being a pillar of strength for those he loved. His entire family is at peace knowing that he has joined his wife in eternal rest. Genaro is preceded in death by his wife: Amparo Santos; grandson: Roberto Santos; son: Rodolfo Santos. He is survived by his children: Genaro (Gertrudes) Santos, Jr. Dora Elsa Santos, Jose Angel (Rosa) Santos, Amparo (Hector) Ceron, Venancio Santos, and Rosa Idalia (Francisco Javier) Sanchez, Sr.; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 12 brothers and sisters, and numerous loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, February 17, 2014 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Pallbearers will be: Genaro Santos, Jr., Jose A. Santos, Venancio Santos, Rodolfo Santos, Jr., Francisco J. Sanchez, Jr., and Hector J. Ceron. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
