FRANCISCO VELA JR. May 30, 1927 - December 07, 2013 Francisco Vela, Jr., 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 07, 2013. He was a very loving husband and father, His strength, wisdom, and sense of humor built the foundation of 7 daughters, 2 sons, 18 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. He was lovingly known as the "Candy Man" and he built his house that still stands for his family, with his hands. December 19th would have been his 65th wedding anniversary with the love of his life Rosa Guadalupe. He was a friend to all and all were welcomed at his table. Mr. Vela was preceded in death by his loving parents, Francisco Vela Sr. and Maria Virginia C. Vela; as well as by his siblings, Ambrosio Vela, Horacio Vela, Reymundo Vela, Jose Vela, Rodolfo Vela, Natalia Vela, Hernestina Vela, Euerando Vela, and Virginia Vela. He is survived by his beloved wife: Rosa Guadalupe Vela; children, Laura (+Rodney) Grayson, +Francisco (Elizabeth) Vela, Herminia (Guillermo) Lopez, Virginia (Agustin) Rangel, Marcela (Rolando) Vera, Rosa (Byron) Sachs, Gabriela (Miguel) Gamez, Mario Vela, Christina (John) Flores; 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, as well as by a great number of nieces, nephews, other beloved relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Eduardo Miranda & Staff, Dr. Eduardo & Jorge Gomez Vasquez & Staff, Doctors Hospital Emergency Unit and SAMMC Hospital, for their most excellent attention, support and care. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd. from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Rosary and Vigil will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 from the funeral home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
