Fidencio Vela

Fidencio Vela, 68, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 19, 2014. Mr. Vela had been employed with L.I.S.D. for 38 years and retired from Daiches Elementary School in 2009. Throughout his lifetime, Fidencio touched many lives, meeting and making new friends. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Mr. Vela is preceded in death by his wife: Maria Estela Vela; father: Francisco Vela, and his sister: Francisca Reyes. He is survived by his loving children: Roel (Connie) Vela, Diana (Carlos) Gomez, Gilberto (Cynthia) Vela, Virginia (Victor) Juarez, Minerva (Alfredo) Rodriguez, Jose Luis Vela, Lizette (Jose) Palomo; grandchildren: Arlene (Jose) Valdez, Gilbert, Janet, Kimberly, Victor Jr., Marc, Big Boy Jose, Rolando, Roberto, Roxy; great-grandchildren: Abilene, and Adelyn; mother, Guadalupe Vela; and brothers: Fernando Vela, Reymundo (Alicia) Vela, Juan Jose Vela, Martin (Cindy) Vela, and Flavio (Dora) Vela. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends. Visitation was held Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Rosary commenced at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, June 21, 2014 departing at 8:30 a.m. to San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Pallbearers are: Gilbert Vela, Jr., Victor Juarez, Victor Juarez, Jr., Carlos Gomez, Jose Palomo, Marc Rodriguez, Fred Rodriguez, and Bobby Vela. Honorary Pallbearers are: Rolando, Big Boy Jose, Janet, Kimberly, Arlene, Roxy, Roel, and Martin. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
