Fernando Domingo Solis, 79, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 17, 2014. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and devoted catholic. Always willing to lend a hand, he served with the U.S. Army National Guard for over 20 years. He worked at HEB for 34 years until he retired. Fernando loved sports, especially baseball but there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play their sports. He was so loved and will be truly missed and never be forgotten. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Pedro Solis and Gonzala M. Solis; as well as his siblings, Raul Solis, Heriberto Solis, Genoveva Cantu, and Florentino Solis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elia G. Solis; his children, Nora (Gerardo) Villarreal, Victor Fernando Solis, Veronica Solis; grandchildren, Gerardo Villarreal Jr., Norita Villarreal, Roberto Fernando Villarreal, Carolina Solis, Victoria Solis; and sister, Santos Gonzalez. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel; 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christina Burial at 9:30 a.m. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Post Legion 59 and Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard.
