FERNANDO SALINAS

JULY 23, 1937 – JANUARY 11, 2018

Fernando Salinas was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the age of 80. He was born on July 23, 1937 to Jose Santiago Salinas and Juanita Hernandez.

Fernando served as a US Postmaster for 24 years in Realitos, Texas after being self-employed for many years. His passion were his children and grandchildren, and being a loyal Badger fan sitting at the 50 yard line to watch the Badgers play.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Santiago Salinas and Juanita Hernandez; his brothers, Ernesto Salinas, Jose Santiago Salinas, Juan Salinas; sister Graciela Lopez; sisters-in-law, Maria del Refugio Salinas, Graciela (Gustavo) Davila, Inga Bord Salinas, and Ana Davila.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Maria A. Salinas; his children, Sylvia (Avilio) Pena, Yolanda (Luis) Garza, Santiago (Sandra) Salinas, all of Bruni, Texas; and Sally Salinas of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Luis Garza, Jr., Kristy Garza, Samantha Pena, Cathleen Pena, Erika Pena, Kaitlin Pena, Shawntae Salinas, and Grandpet Molly. He also leaves behind his sister Cata Chavera; brothers, Ramiro (Chacha) Salinas and Anastacio (Mari) Salinas; sister-in-law, Angelica Salinas; brother-in-law, Jesus Davila; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 15, 2018, from 5 to 8 in the evening at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Rosary will be held at 7 in the evening.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018, departing the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. to Sacred Heart Mission Church, 211 N. Ave. G. 4th St., Bruni, TX 78344, for a Mass at 10:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be: Luis Garza, Jr., Juan Salinas, Jr., Juan Salinas III, Juan Davila, Jerry Chavera, Adrian Chavera, Andy Garcia, and Eduardo Salinas.

Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
