Esterina Samudio Pulido was born on August 10, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Santiago and Aurora Samudio. She attended Maple Lawn Elementary School, Crozier Tech High School in Dallas.

She was a proud alumni of East Texas State College in Commerce, Texas where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation with a minor in History. She began her teaching career in Dallas at Pleasant Grove and William B. Travis Elementary School, where she was known as "Ms. Sam". In 1962, Esterina and her young family moved to Laredo, where mom began her 38 year teaching career at her beloved L.J. Christen Junior High School. She was the proud sponsor of the pep squad and a P.E. teacher for many years. Later, Ms. Pulido began to teach children with special needs until her retirement in 1994.

She married Hector Pulido at Calvario Baptist Church on March 12, 1960 in Dallas, Texas. They moved to Laredo where they opened their family business.

Our mother was an active member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Laredo, Tx for over 50 years. She loved and served her Master and Savior Jesus Christ with vigor and led and participated in many prayer groups and directed numerous Bible studies.

Ms. Pulido loved her country and was very patriotic. She was greatly involved in local politics and proudly served as president of TSTA/AFT teacher unions. She regularly participated in and contributed to school board meetings and city council meetings.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Santiago Samudio; her mother, Aurora; and her brother, Dr. Onesimo Hernandez, and her former husband, Hector Pulido.

No one will miss her more than her immediate family. She is survived by her beloved baby brother, Domingo "Sam the Sham" Samudio, Memphis, TN; her children, Lisa Soto, Pilar (David) York, Erika Montao, and Hector Pulido Jr. (San Juanita).

Her grandchildren were blessed to have her wholesome reputation and her godly character as a legacy and testimony. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Aaron, Joshua, Judith, Eric, Samantha, Abel (Svea), Joseph (Valerie), Hariana, James, Jonas, and Hector Gabriel.

She will also be missed by her many friends, coworkers, church family and former students.

Her favorite verses are too many to name but she always quoted Psalm 23 and Romans 8:28, stating "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."

The family would like the extended their gratitude to their mother's caregivers, Isabel Delgadillo, Melissa Gonzalez, Esmeralda's Daycare, and the wonderful staff at Brookdale Memory Care Facility, San Antonio, Texas.
