Esteban Ruelas, 88, beloved father, grandfather, and great- grandfather entered peacefully into eternal rest with his family at his bedside on Monday, April 2, 2012 in Laredo, Texas.
He was born in Tampico, Mexico and had been a resident of Laredo.-
Mr. Ruelas first came to the United States in the early 1940's as a guest worker under the controversial plan known as the "bracero"" program. Mr.Ruelas labored alongside hundreds of braceros at the Pennsylvania Railroad in Ebenezer, New York.-He returned to Mexico and settled in Nuevo Laredo and began an apprenticeship as a printer, a trade he would practice for over 60 years.-In 1981 he fulfilled his dream of self- employment when he purchased Commercial Printing Company.
His pride and joy was his family and eagerly awaited their weekend visits and gatherings.
He enjoyed listening to music and shared that love with his family; he was a happy, kind and loving father that will be dearly missed.-
Mr. Ruelas is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elida; his parents Santos and Emilia Ruelas, his sister Elvia Rivas, his brothers in law Valentin, Tomas, and Bruno Ramirez; Jose Mayorga, and his sister in law Amelia Munoz.

He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Ruelas Mayorga and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Jose Ruben Garcia for the special attention and care he gave our father.-A special thanks to the staff at House Calls and Laredo Hospice for all their dedication, patience, and kindness.
