Erasmo C. Villarreal, 101 entered the kingdom of heaven on Friday, July 06, 2012 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by those whom love him most, his family.
Erasmo was a loving husband and father who instilled in his children good moral values. He was a rancher who practiced good stewardship of the land. He was a WWII Veteran, who participated in the Normandy Invasion and received the EAME Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, 1 Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He served in the military from 1942-1945.
Mr. Villarreal was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight as well as a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 9194. Like his late wife Felipa, he was an educator for forty years. He started teaching in a one classroom school in Guerra, Texas and also taught in Hebbronville, Texas. He worked for the Laredo Independent School District for the last 25 years, where he helped shape young minds into the professionals they are today. He was also one of the founding members of the Laredo Federal Credit Union and during his life he was an active member of the Alhambras Club.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Felipa M. Villarreal; parents, Antonio and Matilde Villarreal; sisters, San Juana and Delia Villarreal; brothers, Alfredo and Juventino Villarreal; and grandson, Derek Trevino.
He is survived by his sons, Erasmo A. (Elizabeth) Villarreal and Roberto A. Villarreal; grandchildren, Jessica (Ramiro Liendo) Villarreal, Christopher Villarreal, Lynda Villarreal, Lizette Villarreal, Priscilla Rangel, Amanda Trevino, Veronica (Efran Acevedo) Trevino, and Samantha Trevino; and great-grandchildren, Sophia A. Salazar, Robert Hernandez, Giovanni Hernandez and Antonio E. and Alejandro Daniel Acevedo as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Erasmo A. Villarreal, Christopher Villarreal, Alfredo Villarreal, Ramiro Liendo, Blas Castaneda, Lynda Villarreal and Lizette Villarreal.
The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to his caregivers, Sara, Mara Elena, Angela, Sylvia and Marina for all of their excellent care and support.
