Enrique Anastacio Gonzalez, 80, was called home Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born in Laredo, Texas on October 15, 1930 to Enrique E. Gonzalez and Benigna Garza de Gonzalez.

He lived for his family, the love of his life. He was a loving and giving spirit and touched many lives by his compassion and generosity.

He attended St Joseph's Academy and Martin High School before joining the US Air Force in 1951 to serve in the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming and served at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska and Travis Air Force Base in California. After serving his country, he was employed at Laredo Air Force Base as an aircraft electrician until its closure in 1974. He retired from civil service after his employment at the Corpus Christi Army/Navy Depot.

He was preceded in death by his parents Enrique E. Gonzalez and Benigna Garza de Gonzalez and baby sister Maria Ester Gonzalez.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rosario and by his children: Enrique E. Gonzalez, Gary Anderson, Rosario G. (Lus Alberto) Elizondo, David J. (Margaret), Daniel M. (Amalia), and Carlos A. (Claudia). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christina R. (Patrick) Greene, Monica R. (Lance) Newman, L. Gabriel Elizondo, Victoria A. Elizondo; Adriana E., Joshua E., Zachary D., and Julie Ann Gonzalez, Mathew, Michael, and Stephen Weston; Fabiola Aguilar Torres; Carlos A. Jr., and Carolina J. Gonzalez; and six great-grandchildren: Patrick H. Greene, VI; Izabella J., and Mila S. Newman; Brandon A., Karen D. and Victor E. Gonzalez. He is survived by his sister Imelda (Roberto) Ramrez, brother Arturo (Leticia) Gonzalez, and sister-in-law, Evangelina "Nina" (Dr. Juan Yguerabide), as well as beloved nieces, nephews, and other dear family members and friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Idelfonso Flores, Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa and their staff as well as Superior Nursing Care staff most especially Alejandra Garcia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez.-A Vigil for the Deceased will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday morning, May 25, 2011 departing at 9:40 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Christ The King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow to the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented.
