It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elvira Castillo de Garza. She was born in Laredo, Texas to the late Jose and Josefa Castillo and was married to the late Antonio Garza. They enjoyed a wonderful life together until his passing in 1979.-She is also preceded in death by her sisters Gregoria and Carmen Castillo.
Elvira is survived by her sisters Cecilia Castillo, Hortencia-(Carmelo) Gonzalez and Esther Castillo; children Graciela (d. Armando) Gonzalez, Juan (Betty) Garza and Susana (Tino) Rodrguez; grandchildren Armando (Lynna) Gonzalez, Tony (Susan) Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez, Deborah Gonzalez, Tino (Melanie) Rodrguez, and Angela Rodrguez; great-grandchildren Alex and Kaylen Gonzalez, Alexis Gonzalez, and Allyson, Lance and Avery Rodrguez; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Elvira was an assertive, adept business woman who helped business owner Samuel Martnez start the Forwarding Agency of Samuel Martnez & Co. She served as general manager for over 40 years as an integral part of its success.
Elvira was also gracious and kind, always thinking of everyone and their needs. She was well known and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills. She shared that gift with those who visited her kitchen. She found pleasure in making everyone's favorite meal no matter what time of day. She loved traveling and visiting friends and family around the world. Elvira will also be remembered for her love of writing letters and keeping in touch with people she loved. She loved music and dancing.-Some of our fond memories include her dancing and singing around the kitchen as she cooked. We will miss her most for the special blessing she evoked on everyone: "Que Dios te bendiga, la Virgen Santsima de Guadalupe te acompane, el Sagrado Corazon de Jess te proteja y el angel de tu guarda vaya contigo."
