Elvira Aguilar Arredondo passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on July 6th, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. 

Elvira Aguilar Arredondo was born December 27th, 1935 to Enrique and Elvira Aguilar in Aguilares Texas, as the fifth of eight children. During her childhood, the Aguilar family moved to Laredo, Texas, and she graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1953. In the winter of 1964, she married Army veteran Cruz Abelardo Arredondo at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. They went on to have four children, all of whom were born and raised in Laredo. Later in life, she chose to move to San Antonio to enjoy a quiet retirement while remaining close to her children. She was a devout Catholic who looked upon all aspects of her life with faith. 

 Elvira is preceded in death by her husband, Cruz Abelardo Arredondo, her son, Rene A. Arredondo, brothers Enrique Aguilar and Anselmo Aguilar, and sister, Maria Elisa Palacios. 

 Elvira is survived by her loving family including her three children, Adrianna (JoAnna) Arredondo, Cordelia A. Moscrip, Yvonne (Daniel) Rios, and three grandchildren, Matthew Moscrip, Madison Moscrip, and Sofia Rios. She is survived by four of her siblings, Evangelina Gutierrez, Enriqueta Benavides, Emma Spillane, and Jose Aguilar. 

 The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, July 12, 2024 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

 Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, July 13, 2024 departing at 11 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick  Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30a.m.  

 Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. 

 Pallbearers will be: Matthew Moscrip, Daniel Rios, Ricardo Benavides, Luis Palacios Jr, Edgar Martinez, and John David Spillane.

 Elvira’s family would like to thank the Heart of Texas Hospice for their employees’ diligence and compassion in their service.
