ELVA LOZANO GARCIA

Our beloved mother was received into the arms of God on June 9, 2017. Elva Lozano Garcia was born in Laredo, TX on November 2, 1933 to Anita Herbeck Lozano and Martin Lozano.
Elva had a commanding presence and love for music that began to blossom at St. Augustine High School in Laredo and continued her education at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. Her ear for music poured from her fingertips when she played the piano or accordion. This passion was passed on to her numerous students in Hebbronville, TX and to her children and extended family.
Above all else, Elva lived to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She knew the love of God and extended that to every person she encountered in life. All who knew her received the grace of her faith.
Elva was preceded in death by her dear parents, siblings Arturo (Consuelo) Olivares, Thelma O. (Jesus) Meza, her baby brother Martin Lozano Jr., nephew Gene Olivares, as well as her husband Anibal Garcia.
She is survived by her four devoted children, Gerardo (Elsa) Garcia, Martin “Pin” Garcia, Ana G. Jacaman-Longoria, and Diana “Dee-Dee” (Tony Walls) Bell. Her nieces and nephews, who she loved as her own: Jesus R. Meza, Thelma (Alex) Gutierrez, Michael Meza, Hugo (Graciela) Meza, Arturo “Sonny” (Carmen) Olivares, Maricela (Pat) Spagon, and Arabela O. Coble.
Elva was filled with joy for her 6 grandchildren: Anel (Warren) Jennings, Andrea Jacaman, Aria (Henry Fernandez) Jacaman, Amanda Jacaman, Laura Garcia, and MaryLouise Longoria. In addition, she was blessed sevenfold with her great grandchildren, Jose Roberto, Henry Benjamin, Jett Antonio, Miles Salim, Joleigh Loren, Adelynn Salome, and Cash Levi, who knew her as their beautiful Grandma Ita.
Elva was treasured by her family and highly regarded for her faith. She shared her passion for life and music with all, and will be greatly missed by countless friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel, 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
