Mrs. Elma Lopez Salinas, 93, passed away to join Our Lord on August 04, 2016
Mrs. Salinas was born in Hebbronville, Texas on October 1, 1922. She has been a lifelong resident of Laredo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar David Salinas, Sr., parents, Salome Lopez and Crisanta Canales Lopez, her brother, Oscar Lopez, her sister Berta Lopez Gonzalez, her father in law, Jose Maria Salinas Sr., her mother in law, Blanca Aurora Salinas, brothers in law, Carlos Salinas, Sr., Manuel Salinas, Jose Maria Salinas, Jr. and her granddaughter in law, Sarai Moore Salinas.
She is survived by her beloved children: Oscar David Salinas, Jr. Juan Alberto (Janet) Salinas Sr., Elma Salinas (David) Ender. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Jo Ann (Ruben) Lopez, Juan Alberto (Joanne) Salinas, Jr., Joseph Anthony Salinas, Jacqueline Christine (Courtney) Faas and Amy Elizabeth Ender. Further survived by her sister in law, Dolores Lopez; Many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins, as well as by many friends.
Elma Lopez Salinas worked at the Webb County Tax Assessor's office until she retired. She made many dear lifelong friends there.
She graduated from Martin High School. She was one of six girls who organized the MAEMOC Social Club.
She was a parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she attended until she was no longer able to.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you and a grateful acknowledgement to her longtime and loving caregivers for their devoted care of our Mama Elma: Janie Guerrero, Nina Gutierrez, Maria Rodriguez, Gaby Castillo, Elsa Mendoza, Mirta Mendoza, Lolita Gallegos and Lily Flores.
A special thank you to Dr. Dennis Cantu, Dr. Reynaldo Godines and Dr. Manuel Gonzalez. A special thank you for the nurses and aides who cared for her at Laredo Medical Center and to the Healing Hands Home Health agency.
A Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., Laredo, Texas. Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday morning, departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
