Ellen Bailey Young, 75, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 28, 2017. During her final hours, Ellen was at home, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Ellen attended Christen Junior High School, where she was crowned Prom Queen. Later, she attended Martin High School. During high school, Ellen was a Majorette in the MHS Band. Ellen and her husband, Paul, became sweethearts in 1958 and graduated together in 1959.
In Ellen’s younger years, she was a member of the Laredo Boy’s Club Performance Synchronized Swim Team, taught Baton Twirling and played drums in the MHS Band.

Some of her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo, embroidery and crafting, praying with her rosary group, traveling the world, and taking extended road trips with her husband, Paul. Ellen loved being serenaded on Mother’s Day, birthdays and other occasions by her favorite Mariachi Band, Los Tequileros.
Ellen was always overjoyed to see and spend time with her eight grandchildren and most recently, her two new great granddaughters. She also loved her bi-annual Bailey Family Reunions, where she was able to spend quality time with her siblings and their spouses, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Ellen and her family also enjoyed exchanging family recipes to add to the Bailey Family Favorite Recipes Cookbook that Ellen started in 1992.
Ellen was a member of The Society of Martha Washington where she held the office of President, among other offices and in 1990 she had the honor of portraying Martha Washington.
