Eduardo “Eddie” Martinez, 84, went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his side. Eddie was the owner of Martinez Glass Company for many years until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law: Barbara M & Ronald Goodman; his parents: Roque and Evelia V. Martinez; brothers: Roque Jr., David and Alberto Martinez; sister: Maria Teresa M. Gonzaba; and in-laws: Jose M. and Herminia L. Sanchez, John D. Mitchell, Clyde Kitchens and James Massey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years of marriage: Mrs. Laura S. Martinez; children: Laura M. (Francisco Sr.) Garcia, Mary (Esteban) Ayala, Patricia (Temple) Allen, Ana Cristina (Manuel) Tamez and Eddie (Dolores) Martinez Jr. Further surviving him are his grandchildren: Francisco (Virginia) Garcia Jr., Max Garcia, Eduardo (Carrie Brissey) Garcia, Barbara J. (Rudy Gaona Jr.) Goodman, Michelle (Ramiro Sr.) Madrigal, Steven Ayala, Robert Ayala, Austin Allen, Ramiro Tamez, Anissa Tamez, Eduardo Martinez III and Monica Martinez; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Analy, Jocelyn Garcia, Rylee and Ryan Gaona, Ramiro Jr., Raymond, Rosalie and Robert Madrigal; brother: Carlos R. Martinez; sister: Sylvia M. (Ruben) Olvera; sisters-in-law: Sylvia and Cristina Martinez as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral and Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be celebrated at 6 in the evening with Rev. Deacon Gerardo Morales officiating.
Funeral services will be this morning, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, departing the funeral home at 9 a.m. to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Eddie Martínez Jr., Francisco García Jr., Eduardo García, Max García, Steven Ayala, Robert Ayala, Austin Allen, Ramiro Tamez, Eduardo Martínez III, Ramiro Madrigal Jr., Raymond Madrigal, Ryan Gaona and Robert Madrigal.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Carlos R. Martínez, Ruben Olvera, Francisco García Sr., Temple Allen, Esteban Ayala, and Manuel Tamez.
