Dr. Luis O. Mendoza, 78, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Friday, April 07, 2017.

Dr. Mendoza practiced family medicine in Laredo from 1974 until his retirement in 2012. His love for boxing prompted him and his friend Jorge de la Garza to found the Laredo Amateur Boxing Association. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Mendoza is preceded in death by his parents Octavio Mendoza, Delia Lugo Guajardo, stepfather Francisco Guajardo, brother Octavio Mendoza and son Marco Antonio Mendoza.

He is survived by his loving wife Dianna (Dino) Mendoza, children, Luis O. Mendoza, Raquel Cantu, James M. Mendoza, brothers Patricio (Margaret) Mendoza, Ernesto (Martha E.) Guajardo and Francisco (Carolina) Guajardo, grandchildren Christina, Veronica, Luis, Mark, Justin, Ashley, Brooke and Michael, niece Andrea Christina Guajardo, nephew Octavio Mendoza, cousin Francisco Lugo, as well as other cousins, nephews and nieces.

On behalf of his family, we would like to thank Dr. Manuel Gonzalez, Dr. Luis M. Benavides, Dr. Dennis D. Cantu, Nurses on Wheels of Laredo Hospice and caregiver Andrea Morales for the love, care and medical attention provided. A special thanks to his friend and neighbor Juan Treviño for his time and many courtesies.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels and Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Road; where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

All services will conclude in the chapel. A Cremation service will follow at a later date.
