Dorothy Martinez

August 31, 1948 — January 6, 2012

Dorothy "Dot" Martinez, 63, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012, at Laredo Medical Center surrounded by her immediate family.

Dot was born in Dover, New Jersey, grew up in Wharton, and graduated from Morris Hills High School.-She was employed at Picatinny Arsenal where she met her loving husband of 39 years, Francisco Martinez, Jr.-Upon moving to Laredo, she was employed with the U.S. Border Patrol, from which she retired after numerous years of service.-Dot was well known for designing and making costumes for the Princess Pocahontas Pageant for over 27 years.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Fisher and Margaret Hosking Fisher, her parents-in-law, Francisco Martinez and Josefa Vichareli Martinez, and her sister-in-law, Maria Herlinda Ramirez Martinez.

Dot is survived by her husband: Francisco Martinez, Jr.; children: Francisco Martinez, III and Jessica Martinez, and Eric Martinez; sister: Patricia (David) Olsen; brother: Thomas (Mary) Fisher; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ramiro (Marta) Martinez, Elva (Albar+) Elizondo, Elma (Fernando) Gutierrez, Felipe (Leticia) Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Dot and her family wish to thank the following people for their love, help, and support: Dr. Allan White and his staff; Susan Gonzalez at the START Cancer Treatment Center; Dr. Cesar Tula and Dr. Andres Soriano and their staff; Dr. Carlos Hornedo and his staff; and the staff at Doctor's Hospital Cancer Treatment Center.

Dot and her family also wish to thank her friends Carlos and Gracie Hornedo, Mayme and Joe Schwarz, Michael and Terry Powell, Anne Escamilla, and Alicia Medina.

And a special thanks to Rosa Isela and Mario Santos and family, and Sandra and Juan Rubio and family, as well as all of her other friends and family who are too numerous to name.
