Doneita Mae Kowis, 86, was called to the Lord during a peaceful passing in her home on March 12, 2012. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on April 11, 1925 to the late Loyd and Lucile Imel in Dodge City, Kansas. Doneita was married to the late Eddie Kowis. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his passing on March 12, 2005. Doneita joined her "soul mate" in heaven on his 7th anniversary of his death. She is also preceded in death by her sister Loydene Imel Keener and her brothers Winfield and Earl Imel.
Doneita is survived by-her children: Judy (Ernest) Navarro, Connie (Ret. Lt. Col. Charles, USAF) Anderson, Peggy (Bill) Batey, Eddie Jr, (Rose) Kowis, and Patsy (Robert) Alfaro. Grandchildren include Robbin Navarro, Misty Navarro Cram, Ginger Navarro, Charles Richard (Shannon) Anderson III, Kimberly (Burt) Humphrey's, Sandra (David) Speer, Jennifer (Jeff) Cox, William C. Batey III, Eddie J. Kowis III and Evan J. Sanchez. Step Grandchildren are Jennifer Arizza, Robert Jr. (Kathy) Alfaro, Capt. Christopher, USAF (Andrea) Alfaro, and Justin Alfaro. Great Grandchildren: Logan Dean, Morgan Dean, Andrew Cram, Charles Richard Anderson IV, Mathew Anderson, Micheal Anderson, Connor Cox and Brooke Cox. Step Great Grandchildren are Vincent Arizza, Kryshna Alfaro, Allyssen Alfaro, Guylum Alfaro, Andre Alfaro, Zachary Alfaro, Christian Alfaro, Aiden Alfaro and Colten Alfaro. Her Step Great Granddaughter Kaylin Alfaro also survives her.
Doneita was a successful active business woman. She owned Kowis Rentals for over 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards with her friends, dancing and music. Most of all she enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren. We will miss her conversation and her shared wisdom imparted as we sat on her porch in her garden. Doneita was a lifelong member of the Alhambras Sahara Caravan No. 64, The Blessed Sacrament Alter Society and a founding member of Blessed Sacrament Church.-
The family of Doneita Kowis will like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Leo Cigarroa, longtime friend and advisor. Thanks to Dr. Cesar Tulla, Dr. Andres Soriano and Dr. Manuel Jovel from the Sanchez Cancer Center along with Tony Salinas R.N. and the other staff members in the oncology department. Thanks to Dr. Norberto Alvarez Jr. and Staff. Appreciation to La Esperanza Home Health Inc. Also, thankful for the devotion of Lillie Morin, Anna Munoz, Jose Reyes and Johnny Rodriguez. Their unconditional service will always be remembered by the family.
