Derek Pickett

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11: 28 Derek Norman Pickett, 37, surrendered himself to our Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Derek was born January 21, 1978 in Rome, NY where he lived most of his life. He moved to Laredo 5 years ago and met his wife and soulmate, Valerie Villanueva. Derek loved his football and was a die-hard Norte Dame and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cliff diving in New York. Derek had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. He will be missed by those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Elenor Pickett; and his uncles, Robert and David Pickett. Derek is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Villanueva Pickett; his children, Brielle Pickett, Trevor Pickett, Faith Pickett; parents, Angelo and Dawnelle Fields; brother, Alex Fields; as well numerous other loved relatives including the Fields, Reigler, Landry, O'shei and Walker families. Derek will be making his final trip back to his home state of New York to be laid to rest.
