David C. Leyendecker, 82, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 15, 2014. David was a loving husband, devoted father and adored grandfather. Mr. Leyendecker was an active member of the community of Laredo, never missing an opportunity to serve his fellow man. Some of his civic volunteer duties include: Rotary District Governor, Past President of the Blessed Sacrament School Board, Current and Active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Member of the Border Olympics of Laredo, President of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, Commandant of the Laredo Marine Corp League 895, 1st Chapter President of the Korean War Veterans Association 1950 Chapter 209. We will forever cherish the many wonderful and beautiful memories that he gave us throughout the 82 years of his life. In the faith that he instilled in us, we now return his soul to God the Almighty, where from heaven he may watch over us and protect us. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Z. and Elizabeth Leyendecker; as well as by his siblings, Carrie Lee (William) Young, Ernest "Sonny" Leyendecker. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Nancy Knight Leyendecker; children, Nancy (Andre) Goodman, Patricia (David) Martinez; grandchildren, David Ford Goodman, Andre "Trey" (Victoria) Goodman, David Martinez Jr., Jennifer Martinez, and Teresa Martinez; and great granddaughter, Kennedy Elizabeth Goodman. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from the funeral home to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment will then follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
