C.W. Howell, 68, respected local and well known Certified Public Accountant, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 30, 2011 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Amarillo, Texas, November 14, 1942.
Mr. Howell played golf for Frank Phillips College before graduating from the University of Texas at Austin. He became a CPA in 1970, later moving to Laredo, TX, with the firm of Ernst & Young. He later formed the accounting firm of Botello & Howell with his business partner of 21 years, Rosalinda Botello.
Mr. Howell was a director for the Border Olympics and a founder of the Border Olympics Baseball Tournament. The Baseball Volunteer of the Year Award was named in honor of Mr. Howell.-For many years, he was an elder and Chairman of the Board for the First Christian Church of Laredo. He also served as President of the Laredo Country Club for several terms.
He was an avid outdoorsman and had a love for the game of golf.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Bitsey Howell; daughters, Kiska (Morris) Howell Lopez and Larissa (Scott) Wilkinson; and his grandsons, Collin C.W. Wilkinson and Conner Howell Wilkinson. He is also survived by his sisters, Marsha Kivlehen and Sharon Clark.
