Consuelo Haynes Novoa passed away peacefully at her home. Consuelo was born in Old Guerrero, Mexico, on November 21, 1920.

Consuelo had three loves in her life, family, friends and travel. She was an avid reader and had a special inkling for Geography, making her travels more adventurous. She enjoyed entertaining and always welcomed everyone with open arms. She taught her children to love life and to always look for the good in people. Consuelo never once met a stranger, she had the remarkable ability to make everyone feel like part of her family.

She had a passion for traveling both in the United States and abroad. She made her way around the world three incredible times. She brought her travels home with her stories of people she met and sights she visited. She made friends wherever she went, and till her last days kept in touch with many of them.

Consuelo was very active in the community. She volunteered at The-American Heart Association, Legion of Mary and was a CCD teacher at Blessed Sacrament parish. She dedicated tireless hours to The Mother's March for many years collecting in neighborhoods throughout Laredo. She served as President and was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Altar Society. She was also a member of the Beype Social Club, Canasta Club and Merienda Club. Consuelo was Society Editor for the Laredo Times from 1968 to 1972. She had a special Sunday column entitled "It's a Small World". In this column she shared a part of her with so many people.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Luis Novoa, Jr.; parents, Benjamin H. and Maria Luisa Gonzalez Haynes; sister, Maria Luis Haynes; and brothers, Jorge B. and Roberto H. Haynes.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved children, Luis (Kristine) Novoa, III, Gabriela (Herbert) Gallagher, Yolanda Wynn, Cordelia Novoa, and Javier (Tonja) Novoa; adored grandchildren, Sheri Jean (Joseph) Fiedler, Herbert D. Gallagher, Jr., Charlotte (Thomas) Immenschuh, Clayton (Dena) Gallagher, Kathryn (Thomas) Sanchez, Michael (Christi) Wynn, Bryan L. Novoa, Mariana (Gerardo) Sanchez, Javier Novoa, II, and Marcus Novoa; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Hilda Haynes, Olga Haynes, Chita Ramos, and Gloria Zuniga; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be: Herbert D. Gallagher, Jr., Clayton A. Gallagher, Michael Wynn, Bryan Novoa, Javier Novoa, II, Thomas A. Immenschuh and Thomas D. Sanchez.

The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to: Dr. Carlos Cigarroa, Dr. Leo Cigarroa, Laredo Medical Hospice Center, special thanks to Tenny Dickey, Mrs. Paredes, San Juanita and Marion, and caretakers, Rosa Bondt, Magdalena Martinez, Yaneli Mota and Caridad Martinez.
