April 21, 1939 — December 1, 2014

Apocalipsis 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!" Revelation 14:13 Clara Célis de Chvez, 75, has gone to be with our Lord in Paradise on December 1, 2014. She was born in the beautiful city of Xalapa, Veracruz, México, where she met the love of her life, Jorge Chvez Arteaga. They got married in June 24, 1966 and had two children, Jorge Abraham and Myriam. She was a faithful member of the Iglesia de Cristo (Church of Christ), since 1965 until her last church service attended, Sunday, November 30, 2014. Clarita, "la ms bonita", as she was called, started her Christian missionary journey along with her husband in Xalapa, establishing the first congregation of the Iglesia de Cristo there (1965). Her journey continued in August 1980, when she and her family moved 700 miles north to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, not knowingly, in the middle of hurricane Allen. The Chvez family became U.S. Residents in 1981, and continued the work with the Iglesia de Cristo in Pharr, Texas. Clarita and her family would continue to work in the Lord for the next 17 years, in different cities throughout Texas including, Rio Grande City, Brownsville, Donna, Weslaco (volunteer Medical Missionary work in Mexico, through Bridge Ave. Church of Christ), Laredo, and Edcouch where she finished her missionary career. She spent her last two and a half years of her life under the care of her son Jorge A. Chavez (Odette), battling with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. She was a true example of fidelity and love, not only to her husband ("Geris" as she would call him) and family, but most of all, to our Lord Jesus Christ. She will be missed deeply as the days go by, leaving fond memories in our hearts. Rest in peace Clarita, until we see you again. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Rosa Célis. Clara is survived by her husband of 48 years of marriage, Jorge Chvez Arteaga; and her beloved children, Jorge A. (Odette) Chvez of Laredo and Myriam (Andreas) Khner of Germany; and her grandchildren, Natalie, Phoebe, Chloe, Penny and Hannah Chvez of Laredo and Marco Antonio and Clarita Khner of Germany; as well as by numerous other loved relatives and friends. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to her caregivers and sisters in Christ, Ramona Gutierrez, Olga Teniente, and her niece, Elsa Célis Garca of México. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 05, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Prayer Service will commence at 7 p.m. A Chapel Service will be conducted on Saturday morning, December 06, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Laredo City Cemetery.
