CARMEN M. MIRANDA

Carmen M. Miranda, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 86.-Born on March 10, 1926, in Laredo, Texas, Mrs. Miranda devoted her entire life to God, family, and community.
She was married to her high school sweetheart, the late Alfonso P. Miranda, Sr.-After raising all 12 of their children, Mrs. Miranda returned to school and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Laredo State University in 1979.-She continued her devotion to children as a teacher at Katherine F. Tarver Elementary School, where she taught throughout her career until her retirement in 1997.
She spent the remainder of her life doing what she enjoyed the most, celebrating her faith, spending time with her family, and traveling to casinos and bingo halls across the state lines.-Mrs. Miranda exemplified a life of faith, charity, courage, and love.-Beloved by her family and many others who knew her, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her 12 children, Alfonso (Estela) Miranda, Jr., Carmen (Victor) Gamez, Jorge (Oralia) Miranda, Roberto (Elida) Miranda, Nora (Karl) Potthast, Enrique (Phyllis) Miranda, Leticia (Albert) Bracero, Sylvia Miranda, Eduardo (Elizabeth) Miranda, Francisco Miranda, Araceli (Gustavo) Barrera, Melissa (Juan) Torres, 21 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.-She is also survived by her siblings, Luisa Sanchez, Thomas (Elsie) Russo, Concetta (Tico) Banda, and other loved relatives and friends.
