NOVEMBER 1, 1927 ~ JUNE 12, 2011

Carlos Alberto Zuniga, 83, entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 12, 2011. He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1945. Then in 1949 he received his BS in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.-He was also a retired Lt. Colonel in the USAF with 22 years of service, both active and reserves.-He became a partner in Zuniga Freight Services beginning in 1949 until retirement.

During then he achieved many accomplishments, some including: City Councilmen from 1974-1984, mayor pro tem all but first four years and chairing several committees during terms, 1979-1985 he was Director of Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and San Antonio Branch chairman in 1980 and 1983, in 1983 he was named Man of the Year by the Laredo Morning Times, and was also active in various political campaigns until late in his life.

Carlos was preceded in death by his father Fernando Zuniga, mother Nueves Garza Gongora, brother Fernando F. Zuniga, sister-in-law Josephine P. Zuniga, and sister Gloria Zuniga.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria "Bebe" Trevino Zuniga, sons and daughters Carlos, Jr. A. (Lisa) Zuniga of Laredo, Maria "Mellie" (John) Post of San Antonio, Patricia "Patty" Ramirez, grandchildren Elisha (Alejandro) Gonzalez, Casey Zuniga, John Post, William Post, Andrew Post, Christopher Ramirez, Victoria Ramirez, Michael Ramirez, great-grandchild Ella Gonzalez, sister Olga Hovel of Laredo, brothers Jesus Luis (Ana) of San Antonio, Alberto (Laura) of Franklin, LA., and Ernesto (Molly) of Laredo.-He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved relatives.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Road from 5 to 9 in the evening.-A Rosary will be held at 7 in the evening.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.-Cortege will depart at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels.

Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
