Bertha Texas

Bertha Alvarez Ortiz, 88, from Laredo, TX born on April 18, 1929 in Durango, Durango, Mexico, passed into God’s loving arms on September 11, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Luciano Ortiz; daughter, Leticia A. Ortiz-Fortner.

Bertha was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with a generous heart and had great love for her family.

Surviving her are her children: Juan (Amiee) Ortiz, Roberto Ortiz, Angie (Enrique) Garcia, Richard (Jennifer) Ortiz; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; brother Manuel Alvarez, sisters: Maria de los Angeles Henriquez and Martha Villalta as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A heartfelt gratitude is expressed to Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa and Dr. Reynaldo Godines for their medical attention and care given to our beloved Bertha during her life.

The family will gather to receive condolences on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Joe Jackson North Funeral & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; from 5 to 9 in the evening. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 9:40 a.m. to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a funeral mass at 10 a.m.

Cremation will be held at a later date.
