Berta Lona Beltran

Berta Lona Beltran was born June 8th, 1922, to Antonio A. Lona and Eva Barbosa Lona. Berta went to be with the Lord on May 5th, 2022, at the age of 99 in Uvalde, Texas. Berta married Luis R. Beltran Sr. on February 20th, 1943, and gave birth to two sons, Luis R. Beltran Jr. (1943) and Francisco A. Beltran (1946). She was a resident of Laredo, Texas all her life until she and her husband moved to Uvalde in March 2008.
Berta worked for Mercy Hospital, later becoming Mercy Regional Medical Center, for 16 years as a PBX operator (9 years) and in the business office (7 years). She was a good friend to all her coworkers who very affectionally called her Mrs. B.
Berta played the piano for many years and later, her hobby was working on puzzle books. She was a member of the Cursillo Movement for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Luis R. Beltran Sr., who passed away August 6th, 2008, in Uvalde, Texas. She is also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Luis R. Beltran Jr., and her siblings, Dora Garcia, Antonio Lona Jr., Guillermo Lona, Graciela Villareal, and Minerva Angulo.
Berta is survived by her son, Francisco A. Beltran (Minerva) of Laredo, Texas, her daughter-in-law, Johnna Beltran of Uvalde, Texas, her granddaughter, Caroline E. Ray (Alex) of Austin, Texas, and grandsons, Luis R. Beltran III (Erin) of Pflugerville, Texas, Robert R. Beltran (Kelly) of Austin, Texas, Francisco A. Beltran Jr. (Elyse) of Washington D.C., Marco A. Beltran (Diana) of San Antonio, Texas, Jerry A. Beltran (Maggie) of Laredo, Texas, Wes A. Beltran (Joanna) of San Antonio, Texas, as well as Richard Perez (Angie), Mario Perez, and Jackie Lewis (Diana) of Laredo, Texas. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren whom she loved very much, along with numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, May 13, 2022 from 5pm to 9pm at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, May 14, 2022 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Beltran, Marco A. Beltran, Francisco A. Beltran Jr., Johnny Beltran, Robert Beltran, Luis R. Beltran III, Wes A. Beltran, and Alex Ray.
