Beatriz Johnston

Beatriz F. Johnston, 100, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

Beatriz’s life was dedicated to charitable causes and volunteer service. While living in Eagle Pass, TX (1955 – 1972) she was active in ministries to the migrant workers; Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church Altar Society; hospital’s Ladies Auxiliary, Pan American; and El Camino Girl Scout Council as a troop leader. After moving to Laredo, TX (1972 - 2018) she joined the Catholic Daughters of America; volunteered with the Laredo Medical Center Auxiliary; St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Altar Society; Chapel volunteer; ministries to the elderly at the Regency Nursing Home; and was an active member of the Pan American.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Earl Conrad Johnston; son, Edward Joseph Johnston; parents Peter Michael Floyd and Catarina Salinas Floyd; siblings, Maria Elena (Ernesto) Lozano, Fernando Floyd, Laura Floyd, Esther (Manuel) Ramos, Ricardo (Yvonne) Floyd, Julieta (Bill) Floyd, and brother in law, Bill Beall.

She is survived by her sister, Rosa Maria (Andy) Karabinos; as well as by her beloved daughter, Gloria Maria Jackson; sister in law, Irene Floyd; grandchildren, Amber (Will) Kennedy, Brian (Angie) Johnston, Jessica (Pete) Thrasher, and Marlena (Nick) Fontenot; great grandchildren, Colin Kennedy, Reis Kennedy, Jacob Johnston, Asa Johnston, Andrew Johnston, Myron Vickery, Mila Fontenot, and Austin Thrasher. Also surviving her are numerous other relatives and many friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Hector and Maricela Ramos for their loving attention to their aunt Beatriz and to caregiver Mary Villarreal who provided unconditional love and exceptional care as she would have for her own mother.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary commencing at 7 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels; 1410 Jacaman Road, Laredo, Texas 78041.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Family is respectfully requesting all attending to please meet at church.

Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
