Arnoldo Silva, 92, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Mr. Silva was born to Jose and Elvira V. Silva in Laredo, TX.
Arnoldo is preceded in death by his eldest son, Arnoldo Silva, Jr.; siblings: Hortencia S. Guzman, Claudine Littich, Graciela Gonzalez; Oscar Silva, and Eleuterio Silva.
Arnoldo attended Martin High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the North Africa and Italy military liberation campaign.-He worked 25 years as a civilian firefighter for the Laredo Air Force Base, eventually retiring as Assistant Fire Chief in 1975.-He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors.-He was a strong believer in family values and always giving your best effort at life's challenges.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Alicia Tijerina Silva; sons: Daniel (Veronica) Silva, David R. (Belinda) Silva, Eduardo S. (Cecilia) Silva; daughter-in-law: Mirta G. Silva; grandchildren: Arnoldo (Michelle) Silva, III., Mirta S. (Gabriel) Gaytan, Daniel G. Silva, Monica L. Silva, Ricardo O. (Erica) Silva, Adriana S. Arizpe, Eduardo D. (Stephanie) Silva, Cristina Silva, and 14 great-grandchildren.-He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Milton Haber, Dr. Rafael Deliz, Dr. Enrique Miranda, Dr. John Knecht, the 3rd floor medical staff at Doctor's Hospital, and the Laredo Nursing & Rehab Center for their utmost dedication and care during Mr. Silva's extended illness.-Special thanks to Veronica Silva, daughter-in-law, for her care-giver assistance.
