Antonio Carranco was called to be with the Lord on August 16, 2023 at the age of 100.

 

As a member of the Army Air Corps in World War II, he was assigned to the 25th Bomb Squadron as an engine mechanic for the B-24 Heavy Bomber; he was in training for duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations for combat duty.  After his separation with the Army Air Corps, he continued to work as a civil servant as an aircraft engine mechanic at Kelly Field in San Antonio and Laredo AFB.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ofelia Carranco; parents, Rosendo and Guadalupe Carranco; brothers, Francisco Carranco and Carlos J. Carranco; sons Antonio Carranco, Jr and Jorge Carranco.

 

Left to cherish his memory are daughter Ofelia Marie Fritz (James Decker) of Lubbock, TX, son Robert (Diane Frances) Carranco of San Antonio, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

 

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday morning, August 25, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 9:00 a.m.

 

Funeral Services will be held Friday morning, August 25, 2023 departing Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels at 10:30 a.m. to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.

 

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Local Veteran’s Honor Guard.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: Dr. A. Norinsky and the ER staff and Dr. C. Higgins and her team of Family Medicine staff at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Westover Hills in San Antonio.
