ANSELMO ALFONSO "CHEMO" MARTINEZ February 24, 1957 - December 10, 2013 Anselmo Alfonso "Chemo" Martinez, 56, returned to the arms of our Lord on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. He was a humble, loving, witty and caring man who was loved by all who knew him. Since a young age, he demonstrated a great passion for his faith and was an altar boy at St. Joseph Catholic Church for 10 years. As a religiously holy man, he was a part of the Cursillo Movement and taught at various Catholic Schools including St. Peters, Mary Help of Christians and St. Augustine High School for 26 devoted years. Although his true profession was that of a teacher, he was first employed as a nurse and shortly thereafter worked for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. He now joins his father, Ramon Nonato Martinez in God's Heavenly Kingdom. Anselmo is survived by his loving wife of almost 25 years, Monica R. Martinez; his mother, Albina B. Martinez; siblings, Ramon D. (Carmela) Martinez, Javier (Rosamaria) Martinez, Manuelita (Eduardo) Cavazos; parents-in-law, Marcelo and Gloria Ramirez; brothers-in-law, Gerardo A. (Irene) Ramirez, Carlos A. (Samantha) Ramirez; and sister-in-law, Veronica Ramirez. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel; 1410 Jacaman Rd. Funeral procession will depart from the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
