Anna O. Haynes, 87, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Monday, December 25, 2023.

 

 Anna O. Haynes, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and beloved member of the Laredo community, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023, at the age of 87. Born on October 11, 1936, in her cherished hometown of Laredo, Anna was the epitome of elegance, grace, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

 

Anna pursued her passion for dance in her early life and performed for many local and civic organizations. She continued her dance career in California before returning to Laredo and marrying Robert Haynes. She transitioned her professional career to a dedicated educator at Martin High School for 36 years. She earned a Master’s Degree in International Business during her teaching tenure. As an esteemed educator at Martin High School, she touched the lives of countless students, inspiring them to reach for their dreams and become the best version of themselves. Anna's commitment to her profession was evident in the lives she positively influenced and the lasting impact she had on the educational landscape of Laredo.

 

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Anna was devout in her Catholic faith, finding solace and strength in her spiritual journey. She was an active member of various organizations, including The Pan American Round Table of Laredo, Laredo Genealogy Society, The Society of Martha Washington, her prayer groups, and several birthday clubs. Anna's unwavering support for the arts illustrated her appreciation for creativity and beauty.

 

Anna was an avid traveler, exploring new destinations and immersing herself in the diverse cultures she encountered. Whether it was venturing to far-flung places or discovering hidden gems closer to home, Anna approached each adventure with enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge. She cherished these experiences, often reminiscing about the memories created and the people she met along the way. During her travels she was blessed to have visited many religious landmarks around the world.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” G. Haynes; parents, George W. & Margarita Ochoa; siblings, George W. Ochoa, Jr., Alfonso Ochoa, and Margarita Ochoa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard “Dicky” Haynes, James Haynes, Jr., Marcel C. Notzon, II., Nora Lee Notzon, and Frances Rose Gallagher.

 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Anderson Haynes, Michelle Haynes, Jennifer Haynes (Edward) Beckelhymer, and Roxanne (David) Urbina; grandchildren, Kaitlin A. Beckelhymer, John D. Urbina, and Heather L. Aber; sisters-in-law, Rosa Imelda Haynes, Martha Haynes, and Alejandra Ochoa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, December 28, 2023 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

 

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, December 29, 2023 departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

 

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be: Edward A. Beckelhymer, III., David Urbina, Marcel C. Notzon, III., James A. Notzon, Richard E. Haynes, II., Christopher M. Haynes, Juan I. Pasquel, and George W. Ochoa, III.
