ANN HALEY RAMIREZ
APRIL 19, 1929 – MAY 26, 2019
Mrs. Ann Haley Ramirez, 90, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at her home, having been surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Nettie Haley; husband: Ernesto Ramirez; son: James “Jimmy” Ramirez.
At an early age, she professed her love of Jesus Christ and together with her late husband Ernesto, joined San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, where they were faithful parishioners for many years. She was an active volunteer at the Laredo Mercy Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer, where she greeted families, patients, and provided support to hospital staff.
Ann lived a beautiful life, filled with much love, especially for her grand-daughter and her three great grand-children, whom she adored. A fond cat lover, she shared her affection and compassion for the many cats she owned throughout her life, including her current cat, Gordo. Her influence and life will forever remain a part of the people who knew her well. As a devoted mother and avid bible-reader, her favorite pastimes included watching Lifetime movies, gambling at the maquinitas, and enjoying a daily coke float.
Left behind to cherish her loving memory are her daughter: Annette (Carlos) Garcia; granddaughter: Lori (Martin) Castro; great-grandchildren: Adrian, Lullah, and Miguel Castro; honorary daughter: Guadalupe “Lupita” Gonzalez. She is further survived by an extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers: Lupita and all the ladies, for their care, support, and compassion extended to her. To her doctors, Dr. Luis Benavides and staff, as well as Dr. Humberto Varela and staff. And to the wonderful nurses and staff from Nurses on Wheels Hospice Care, who provided her comfort and consolation in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in her memory to: The Laredo Animal Shelter, The South Texas Food Bank or the Bethany House of Laredo.
Pallbearers will be: Beto Benavides, George Benavides, Nick Benavides, Dr. Pat Valls, Jaime Alvarado, Marty Alarcon, and Ricardo Ramirez.
