ANN LEECH ESCAMILLA
SEPTEMBER 5, 1941 - JULY 4, 2016
Ann Leech Escamilla, 74, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Escamilla was born in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Captain John Gordon Leech and Louise Rogers Leech, and her sister, Barbara Leech McFarland (Robert McFarland).
She is survived by her beloved husband, Manuel G. Escamilla, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia Ann (Vinny) Cartelli; son, Manuel E. (Jennifer) Escamilla; and three beautiful grandchildren, Danika Marie Brewster, Ana Sylvia Escamilla, and Manuel Enrique Escamilla.
She is also survived by her brother, John Gordon (Mallory) Leech, Jr.; sister, Kathleen Leech (John) Schwartz; cousin, Melissa (Chad) Zeimer; and other nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Escamilla Family extends a very special thank you to Ann's best friends, Adriana Foster and Norma Garcia, for their unwavering friendship and support from beginning to end.
Ann was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She moved to Laredo in 1970, when she married, and lived and raised a family here since then.
After dedicating many years to proudly serving the United States Border Patrol, Laredo Sector, Ann retired from her position several years ago and continued to devote her time to assisting others and volunteering in the community. Among many other volunteer activities, Ann served as the School Board President of both Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and St. Augustine High School and was a Eucharistic Minister at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Ann was an avid reader, volunteer, and especially enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family.
A rosary will be recited Thursday, July 7, 2016, at 7 p.m. at the Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel, 719 Loring at Cortez; and a visitation will be held there from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. beginning at the Joe Jackson Funeral Chapel, then to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where a mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Leech, Jr., John Schwartz, Juan F. Rodriguez, Enrique Salvador Garcia, Tomas Luis Izaguirre, III, Donato David Ramos, Jr., and Christina Tolin (honorary).
