Mr. Andew Martinez, Jr., 75, beloved husband, father, and grandfather was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 05, 2013. The eldest brother of six children, Andrew was born on March 01, 1938 to Andres Martinez and Carmen Hurtado Martinez. He was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Roy Miller High School.-He married Ofelia Ramirez of Laredo on June 28, 1959 and was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Andrew was committed to his catholic faith and immensely proud of his family. He had a passion for bolero music and as a teenager formed his own Trio in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked as an inhalation therapist for nearly 30 years, first at Laredo Mercy Hospital then Doctors Hospital.-
In his retirement, he enjoyed playing his guitar, reading about history and geography, traveling, and spending time with his family. Andrew was a compassionate person who shared his faith and love toward our Lord Jesus Christ and our loving Virgen de Guadalupe with his family.-Andrew will forever live in his family's hearts and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. We know he is playing the guitar for the Lord our God in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Andres Martinez Sr. and Carmen H. Martinez; as well as by his father and mother in law, Margarito and Ernestina J. Ramirez.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ofelia R. Martinez; children, Leticia (Gerardo Javier) Leal Sr., Melissa Martinez; grandchildren, Anaissa Ariana Leal, Gerardo Javier Leal Jr.; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Ramos, Gregoria Hernandez, Fanny Gonzalez, Luis (Josefina) Martinez, Gilbert (Dina) Martinez; brothers in law, Reynaldo (Bertha) Ramirez, Reymundo Ramirez, and Ernesto (Graciela) Ramirez. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends.
