Amparo Santos

Amparo Santos, 78, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 15, 2013. Amparo was born on July 04, 1935 in Hacienda Santa Fe, Nuevo Len, México. She married her husband of 64 years, Genaro Santos, in June 1949. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a doting grandmother. She displayed incredible courage and strength throughout her life and until she embarked on her final journey. Amparo filled her home with warmth and laughter and loved to cook. She enjoyed conversations over pan dulce and coffee as well as making trips with her husband to their home in México. The doors to her home were always open to those she loved and she was happiest whenever she was helping someone. Amparo was a rare and beautiful individual known for her kindness, generosity, and her unconditional love for her family. She will remain an enduring presence in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and loved ones. Amparo was preceded in death by her grandson, Roberto Santos; son, Rodolfo Santos, and brother: Paulino De Luna. She is survived by her beloved husband: Genaro Santos, Sr.: children: Genaro (Gertrudes) Santos, Jr., Dora Elsa Santos, Jose Angel (Rosa) Santos, Amparo (Hector) Ceron, Venancio Santos, and Rosa Idalia (Francisco Javier) Sanchez, Sr.; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, and numerous loved relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights to San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
