Amelia I. Ponce, a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved grandmother joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the age of 58. 

Amelia was born on September 23, 1965, in Mexico, and later became a dedicated member of the Laredo community.  She was a woman of immense strength and resilience, known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her work in the school food service industry.  Her commitment to her role at LISD exemplified her tireless work ethic and caring nature.

Throughout her 59 years of life, Amelia touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity.  She was a pillar of support for her family, especially her beloved husband of 37 years of marriage, Jose Ponce.  Amelia found great joy in caring for her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Ibarra.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jose Ponce; children, Angie (Jose Alberto) Villarreal, Jose Ponce, Jr., Manuel Ramiro Ponce, Jonathan (Tiffany) Ponce; grandchildren, Araceli Graciela Villarreal, Jose Alberto Villarreal, Jr., Presley Ponce, Dakota Ponce, Elijah Ponce, Faith Ponce, Matthew Ponce; mother, Ernestina Ibarra; brothers, sisters, and other loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday evening, April 9, 2024, from 5pm to 9pm at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning, April 10, 2024 departing at 9:00 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the _________Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be: Jose Ponce, Jr., Jose Ponce, Sr., Jonathan Ponce, Manuel Ramiro Ponce, Jose Alberto Villarreal, and Tomas Lombrana.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jose Alberto Villarreal, Jr., and Elijah Ponce.
