Alicia Patiño, 102, entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2020. Alicia was born in Rio Grande City, Texas on July 03, 1918. She married Jesus Jose Patiño who was from Laredo. Alicia and Jesus were married for 65 years. They had four children: Irene, Jesus Jose Jr., Imelda, and Adrian.
During their early years of marriage, Jesus and Alicia were migrant workers. During the day, their children attended a little red school house for migrants and then would join their parents afterschool picking cotton, strawberries, or whatever was in season. Alicia and Jesus were hard workers. Alicia started working at the age of 12 when her father passed away. In those days, going to school was not mandatory; so Alicia worked to help support her family. She had very little formal education and was unable to help her children with their schoolwork. Alicia, however was a great teacher because she taught her children the importance of faith and the importance of caring for others by showing gratitude, respect, and love for one another.
Alicia was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Jose Patiño; her children: Irene, Jesus Jose Jr., and Adrian; and her siblings, Juan Villarreal and Lucia Villarreal Garcia.
Alicia is survived by her daughter, Imelda Patiño Murillo; her granddaughter, Imelda Patiño; her grandsons, Jose R. Murillo Jr. and Javier J. Murillo; her great-grandsons, Christian, Thomas, and Matthew; and her great-granddaughters, Ava, Mia, and Chloe Murillo. She is also survived by her sibling, Amparo Klein.
