Alicia Martinez, 86, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Alicia Martinez, a loving and devoted woman, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was a woman of deep faith and a devout follower of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a devotion that guided her life and her kind, nurturing spirit.
Alicia had a profound love for children, always showing patience, warmth, and care that touched the hearts of many. Her passion for Spanish music brought joy to her days, and she especially cherished the melodies that reminded her of her heritage. Alicia was an avid fan of classic movies, finding endless delight in the humor of Cantinflas and the heartfelt performances of Pedro Infante.
She loved spending time with her family, whether it was enjoying outings together or sharing laughter and memories at home. Alicia also found excitement in trips to the casino, a pastime she cherished with her late husband.
Her vibrant spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she shared with her family and friends will forever be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mario S. Martinez; her daughter, Estela Palacios; her grandson, Mario Jesus Palacios; her parents, Rodolfo Martinez and Angela Ramirez; her siblings, Rosario Martinez, Raul Martinez, and Arturo Martinez.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mario (Rose) Martinez, Sylvia (Eduardo) Martinez, Hilda (Javier) Castillo, Araceli (Luis) Rodriguez, Sergio Martinez, Beatriz (Santiago) Flores, Nora († David Rolando) Garcia, and Margarita (Isidoro) Gallegos, III.; son-in-law ,Luis Palacios; 31 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, January10, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, January 11, 2025 departing at 8 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Laredo City Cemetery.
